Byblos City has been inhabited since the sixth century. This town is actually a made up of an old town, which is surrounded by medieval walls along with the modern town that expands towards the mountains. There is a fishing port which is built during the Neolithic period. The old town’s archaeological site reveals all the relics of its 8,000 year-old history.

When you go to the crusaders’ castle, you can see the obelisks’ temple, houses’ foundations which is dating from 3200 to 2000 BC, royal necropolis, and some sarcophagi. Near the archaeological site, lays the old Jbeil. Byblos’s port and lovely alleys induce long charming walks where churches (including the Crusader church of Saint John), chapels and houses are waiting to be discovered.
