Ambon Tourism Government Survey Their Tourism Potential
Department of Culture and Tourism of Ambon city will conduct a survey of tourism industry potential in various villages in Maluku province’s capital city. “The survey was conducted tourism potential because we found it difficult to meet the demand of local and foreign tourists about the industry typical souvenirs such as statues or replicas Maluku musical instruments,” said Head of Culture and Tourism City of Ambon, Marthen Keiluhu, in Ambon.
According Keiluhu, there are several villages in Ambon has the potential to be developed as the tourism industry such as the Village South Leitimur Naku District, Village and Amahusu Latuhalat, District Nusaniwe Ambon. “Every village in Ambon have different potentials, but only a few villages that have a value of more tours to be sold to tourists,” he said.
Keiluhu said it will implement a program for rural communities that have these business products, but the obstacles in the field is the community’s commitment to developing the business. “Constraints facing today is lack of commitment and community response to this program,” he said.
He acknowledged, it has been working closely with the ILO (International Labour Organization), to conduct a survey of potential villages in Ambon in the near future. “We will write to all Heads of Villages in Ambon and ask them to fill the potential that can generate money from the tourism potential who can be developed in each region,” he said.
After the data is received, then it would conduct a survey to gauge whether or not the continued potential of the inserted data for each village, so the results can be accounted for.
In addition, Disbudpar Ambon City will also work with hotels to promote and sell souvenirs to the shape and model as well as attractive packaging and selling value. “This is a challenge for the government of Ambon to a variety of tourism products that are packaged and sold has a value of comparative and competitive in the market, as well as impact to attract tourists to visit Maluku, particularly Ambon,” added Keilihu.
